Dr. Samantha Coyle |
Dr. Coyle is an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at Montclair State University. She is a core faculty member in the School Psychology MA Program and Clinical Psychology PhD Program. Dr. Coyle received a PhD in School Psychology from Northern Illinois University. Her research focuses on school based mental health assessment and intervention. Her work also explores risk and protective factors for mental health difficulties, such as social support, stress, and bullying victimization. Her lab also conducts research investigating factors related to students' perceptions of the school climate and school safety. Dr. Coyle has published her research in high quality journals in the field including Psychological Bulletin, Journal of School Psychology, and School Psychology Review. She is a member of the editorial board for Journal of School Psychology and Psychology in the Schools. Dr. Coyle teaches courses including PSYC 574: Cognitive Assessment, PSYC 615 Crisis Response and Intervention for School Psychologists and PSYC 668: School Consultation

Jessica Wimmer
Jessica is a 4th year Clinical Psychology Ph.D. student from Dallas, TX. She completed her B.S. in Psychology at Texas A&M University in 2017, and she obtained her M.A. in Clinicial Psychology at Montclair State University in 2022. Jessica’s interests include social support, stressful life events and trauma, and internalizing problems. Her dissertation focuses on developing a cutting edge measure of trauma for late adolescents and emerging adults.

Talita Ahmed
Talita is a 2nd year Clinical Psychology Ph.D. student. She is interested in researching the development and dissemination of school-based interventions, specifically examining how mentorship and community engagement can help predict student mental health outcomes. Likewise, she is committed to working with historically underrepresented youth to create culturally-sensitive school interventions and better understand related internalizing disorders (e.g., depression and anxiety).
Talita is a 2nd year Clinical Psychology Ph.D. student. Liora Steinberg
Liora is a 2nd year Clinical Psychology Ph.D. student. She completed her B.A. in Psychology at Yeshiva University in 2020, and then went on to complete her Master’s in Clinical Psychology at Teacher’s College, Columbia University. She is interested in researching the risk and protective factors associated with internalizing disorders in children and adolescents, particularly focusing on the influence of early environmental stressors. She is also interested in the compensatory effects of social support. Liora currently serves as the lab manager for Dr. Coyle's lab.

Annie Schatz
Annie is a second-year masters student in the School Psychology program at MSU. Her research interests focus on investigating the risk as well as the protective factors that impact student social, emotional, academic, and behavioral functioning. She is also interested in the impact of school climate and school safety on students' developmental growth.

Cassidy is a second year Master's student in the School Psychology program at Montclair State University. Her research interests surround the social, environmental, and psychological risk factors that can impact school performance and climate.

Elizabeth is a second year master’s student in the School Psychology program. She completed her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island in 2022. Her research interests include understanding student behaviors and their effect on overall school performance and barriers to learning in the classroom.

Regan Neal
Regan is a third year student in the BA/MA Psychology program. This is her first research position. Her research interests include the school experience of neurodivergent students and how school climate impacts them differently than their neurotypical peers. Regan is also an Admissions Ambassador and part of Student Communications at Montclair.
